Donald Ahlers Jr. allegedly clutched the woman’s neck after the two argued in the parking lot outside Sayville Cinemas on Railroad Avenue in Patchogue on Saturday night, police said. The woman identified herself in a now-deleted Facebook post as the manager of the Sayville Theater for the past six or seven years.
“Fortunately one of my co-workers, a 16 year old kid, literally saved my life by knocking this man off me,” the woman wrote. “In return, the man threw my stick to the ground and gave him several hard blows to the head and tried to poke his eyeballs in with his thumbs.”
She says he finally got in his car and drove away.
“There was no remorse,” the woman added. “Next time, maybe someone won’t be as lucky as me to have someone help them.”
Ahlers Jr., of East Islip, was arrested on Tuesday afternoon for assault, felony obstruction of breathing and child endangerment. He is expected to be arraigned on Wednesday. The details of the lawyer for him were not immediately clear.
Sayville Cinemas said in a Facebook post that it was grateful for the help from the community.
