SS Rajamouli’s highly anticipated magnum opus RRR hits theaters on March 25th. The period drama brings together two of the biggest stars of Telugu cinema – Ram Charan and Jr NTR. The film also stars Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in extended cameos.
If buzz is anything, then RRR is poised to set a new opening day box office record this Friday. “I’m expecting around Rs 150 crore opening gross from all languages just in India,” said Girish Johar, film producer and trade expert at indianexpress.com.
According to reports, RRR’s budget exceeded the budget of SS Rajamouli’s latest film, Baahubali: The Conclusion, by at least Rs 100 crore. Andhra Pradesh Minister Perni Nani told reporters: “We have received an application from the creators of RRR. According to this information, the producers spent Rs 336 crore on the film, excluding GST and cast and crew salaries. Soon, the file will reach the Prime Minister and we will decide on the new increase in the price of cinema tickets.
Excitement is also on the agenda within the RRR team. Jr NTR, who previously collaborated with SS Rajamouli in Student No 1 (2001), Simhadri (2003) and Yamadonga (2007), said, “This film will be an emotional rollercoaster. There will be times when you cling to your seats, wanting to pull it out, tear it up. You will laugh, cry, you will be many things!
