After Yashoda, Unni Mukundan is set for her second film release this month, with her Malayalam film Shafeekkinte Santosham set to hit theaters by the end of November.

The film, which marks the directorial debut of Anup Pandalam, also marks Unni’s second production venture this year following the super hit Meppadiyan directed by Vishnu Mohan. The film, which is billed as a comedic performer, also has Divya Pillai, Athmiya Rajan, and Shehin Siddique in key roles.

Shafeekkinte Santosham had completed his debuts this year in Kerala and Dubai. In a recent interview with OTTplay, the actor told us that prior to Meppadiyan’s success, people rarely considered him a top comedian due to his physique and the existing perceptions about these actors in the industry.

Unni said that with Meppadiyan, for which he gained weight to play the lead role of a protagonist who gets tangled up in a series of problems due to his good nature, he was able to break those stereotypes and was able to create a space for himself in the industry.

Films like Shafeekkinte Santosham, which is a family entertainer, or Mindiyum Paranjum, which is a romantic comedy, were never part of his lineup and only became possible after Meppadiyan’s success, Unni said. The actor, who also produced the film, also wrote the lyrics to a song in the film and rendered three of its tracks. The film is set to hit theaters on November 25. The film’s satellite rights have been acquired by Surya TV.

Meanwhile, Unni also has several big projects underway, including the “mass” action artist titled Bruce Lee, directed by Vysakh and scripted by Udaykrishna. He has also completed Jayaraj’s latest director and has two fantasies – Gandharva Jr and Yamahaa who will hit the stage soon. Her latest release Yashoda, which has Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the lead, opened to largely positive reviews last week.
