Jogi: Diljit Dosanjh in Ali Abbas Zafar’s film, released on September 16

  • Netflix releases the first Jogi trailer starring Diljit Dosanjh and Ali Abbas Zafar.
  • The film is about a young Sikh man caught up in the 1984 Sikh riots in Delhi.
  • It tells the story of his courage and bravery amid deadly riots.

Jogi featuring Diljit Dosanjh leading the pack presents the story of a young Sikh man, who becomes involved in the 1984 Sikh riots in Delhi.

The story of his mental strength and boldness in destructive tumults can be found in the Jogi of leader Ali Abbas Zafar. Netflix leaked the main trailer for leader Ali Abbas Zafar’s next film on Tuesday and featured Diljit as Jogi, a man who still sticks by his loved ones.

The trailer opens with Jogi getting paid for breakfast with his family, apparently during the temporary peace before a violent upheaval.

Anyway, as volleys ring out in their area, which is soon attacked by fierce mobs, the hero tries to escape the city with his family and go to Punjab, which is the place safest where they can be.

Observers can clearly see plans of roads beset by tumult and the mass departure of Sikhs trying to recover their health.

The trailer also expands on Jogi as a lifeguard figure. The trailer will no doubt keep watchers on their toes until the end.

Taking to Instagram today, Netflix said: “Jinke hausle buland ho, unki himmat todna namumkin hota hai. Aisa hi hai sadda Jogi. Watch @diljitdosanjh in and as Jogi – a story of friendship, courage and hope. Out September 16th, only on Netflix! #Jogi #JogiOnNetflix”

Diljit talked about the movie Jogi and said that the topic is extremely close to his heart.

He said, “The year of my birth is 1984 as well. I grew up hearing about real experiences and stories about the riots and the times.

In fact, I had even made a Punjabi film, Punjab 1984, some time ago which also won a National Film Award. So the topic is really important to me, and Ali sir chose the right story.

The film was shot during the COVID 19 pandemic and Diljit, in a similar conversation, found that his OTT debut is a good decision as he will contact many people.

The film also stars Kumud Mishra, Amyra Dastur, Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub and Hiten Tejwani. Coordinated by Ali Abbas Zafar, the film will be delivered on September 16 on Netflix.
