Halle Berry posts a meme on Twitter poking fun at the number of times her characters have saved on-screen children over the past few years.
Halle Berry posted a meme lambasting one of his most common cinematic tropes. The actress burst onto the scene in the early 1990s before entering the 2000s with a whirlwind of roles in big-budget blockbusters and indie darlings. Between acting in films like the x-men trilogy and die another dayshe won the Best Actress Oscar for her role in the 2001 film The Monster Ball. Berry’s most recent high-profile roles have included appearances in hit sequels. Kingsman: The Golden Circle and John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellumas well as Roland Emmerich’s disaster film in 2022 moon fall.
However, Berry has done many mid-budget projects between these films, many of which share a crucial plot element: they often involve Berry in a desperate search to save a young child. These movies include The call, in which Berry’s character is a 911 operator who must find a way to save a teenage girl (Abigail Breslin) after she’s been kidnapped by a serial killer. Another recent entry stars Berry as Karla Dyson, a mother who must pursue a mysterious mugger who holds her son Frankie (Sage Correa) captive after kidnapping him at a carnival: the 2017 film Kidnap.
Recently on Twitter, Bay posted a Tweet with the caption “I know she’s not about to save another child in this move…This reference to someone discussing their common recent film trope was accompanied by a five-second video of Usher. The video, which is a brief clip from a live performance of the Tiny Desk concert series by NPR, features the artist saying “look at thisbefore launching into a song. Check out the Tweet below:
While this is only a passing reference to films she’s made recently, it could also be a clue to one of Berry’s upcoming projects. She certainly may be considering a script for a project that made her think about the number of times she’s saved children on screen over the past decade. It’s also possible that the project that sparked this is his next horror thriller. Mother landdirected by Alexandre Aja (High tension) and Marc Romanek (One hour photo) and follows a family haunted by an evil spirit.
Be that as it may, it is certainly true that Halle Berry has made rescuing children its bread and butter lately. As her recent action roles have proven, she’s more than up to the challenge of delivering thrills no matter who she’s fighting for. However, by poking fun at herself, she also proved she had the ability to laugh when she wasn’t being intense on set.
