Boycott movie trends are at their peak these days. Various big budget Bollywood movies are struggling to hit theaters. Hindi films that have been released in recent weeks – Aamir Laal Singh Chaddha, Akshay Kumar-star Raksha Bandhan, and Anurag Kashyap’s Dobaaraa – have all faced calls for boycotts, and these trends have directly affected their box revenues- office. Now Kapil Sharma has given his reaction to the Boycott trend.
In a recent interview, when Kapil Sharam was asked about the boycott tendencies, “Pata Nahi sir, me intellectual Itna Aadmi Nahi. Meri abhi apni film aayi nahi hai. By ye tendency vrend chalte rehte hai. Ye sab waqt ki baat hoti hai. (I don’t know, I’m not that intellectual. I don’t have a movie release yet. But these trends keep coming. It’s only a matter of time) .”
Kapil further added, “Maine to Nahi Suna Unki koi movie boycott hui. Sir, you Twitter ki duniyaa se mujhe door rakho. Mai Badi Mushkil se Nikla hoon (I haven’t heard of any such boycott against his movies. S please let me stay away from the world of Twitter, it took a lot to get out of it).
Kapil Sharma is now gearing up for the new season of his popular show The Kapil Sharma Show. The last season of The Kapil Sharma Show aired in June this year. Meanwhile, Kapil’s previous shows were also boycotted. After Sushant Singh Rajput’s disappearance, Kapil Sharma Show actor Kiku Sharda impersonated an Indian reporter extensively covering SSR’s death for a segment on the show. Krushna Abhishek and Kapil were also included in the segment. The parody of media coverage of SSR’s death did not sit well with his admirers and sparked the “Boycott Kapil Sharma Show” hashtag which was also trending on Twitter. They started boycotting it.
