There are currently a handful of horror movies playing in theaters, including Nope, The beastand Orphan: first murderand another brand new one is being added to the mix this week.
This week is a little quiet on the horror front, but with the Halloween season fast approaching, we promise it’s just the calm before the spooky storm…
Here are all the new horrors that are coming August 22 – August 28, 2022!
First off, we may be months away from Halloween, but a new indie horror movie titled The day after Halloween launches the season on VOD this Tuesday, August 23.
The film is billed as “The hangover meets horror.

On the small screen this week, Danny DeVito and Place Aubrey star of FX’s horror-comedy animated series”Little demon”, produced by the co-creator of “Rick & Morty” Dan Harmon.
The series was created by Darcy Fowler, Seth Kirschner and Kieran Valla.
“In Little demon13 years after being impregnated by the Devil (Danny DeVito), a reluctant mother (Plaza) and her daughter Antichrist (Lucy DeVito) attempt to live an ordinary life in Delaware, but are constantly thwarted by monstrous forces, including Satan, who yearns for custody of his daughter’s soul.
Naturally, you can expect blood, guts, and plenty of weird oddities…
This week’s new big-screen horror flick is The invite (formerly titled The bride), a Dracula-inspired horror film hitting theaters from Screen Gems this Friday, August 26.
Described as “a contemporary horror thriller”, The invite tells “the story of a young woman who is wooed and swept away, only to find that a gothic plot is afoot”.
It turns out that this “Gothic Conspiracy” involves the drinking of blood, with Evie being drawn into a world of vampires. It’s truly a Dracula tale, but with a new twist.
Here’s the full plot synopsis: “After her mother dies and has no other known relatives, Evie (Nathalie Emmanuel) takes a DNA test…and discovers a long-lost cousin she didn’t know was there. she had. Invited by her new family to a lavish wedding in the English countryside, she is first seduced by the sexy aristocratic host.
“But Evie is soon plunged into a survival nightmare as she uncovers twisted secrets in her family’s history and the unsettling intentions behind their guilty generosity.”

Another shark attack horror movie swims our way this week, with the release of Saban Films man eater in select theaters, digital and on-demand August 26, 2022.

And finally, it’s not exactly a horror movie but Julius Avery (Suzerain) is back with Samaritan this Friday, Sylvester Stallone superhero thriller coming to Amazon Prime Video.
“Based on an original idea, the thriller centers on a young boy who seeks to discover if a mythical superhero, who disappeared 20 years earlier following a tragic event, is still alive.”
“It’s a big event movie – we see our heroes kicking ass,” Avery had recently said. Total movie. “We’ll see Sly do things he hasn’t done in a long time, and in a really inventive way. He is 73 years old! I’m amazed at how much he actually does. I’m telling you, most guys in their twenties wouldn’t be able to do what Sly does in this movie.
