Malayalam star hero Dulquer Salmaan is back with his second consecutive Telugu film, Sita Ramam. Mrunal Thakur is the female lead. The film is creating a buzz and is out today on screens. Let’s see how it is.

Afreen (Rashmika Mandanna) is a student president from Pakistan at a university in London. She undertakes to deliver a letter to Sita Mahalakshmi (Mrunal Thakur) on the insistence of her grandfather’s will. Although she dislikes the job, she agrees to do it to get her share of her grandfather’s property. The letter is written by Lieutenant Ram (Dulquer Salmaan) to Sita. Who is this Ram? Who is Sita Mahalakshmi? What is Ram’s connection to Afreen’s grandfather? Watch the movie to find out the answers.

Good points :

We’ve heard what a terrific performer Dulquer Salmaan is. The actor once again proves his worth with Sita Ramam. It brings the character of Lieutenant Ram to life. He looks good and his screen presence is blazing. Whether it’s emotional or romantic scenes, he delivers them brilliantly.

The surprise package here is Mrunal Thakur. She makes a stunning debut in Telugu. She looked stunning in her sarees and performed with ease. She will surely have a bright future ahead of her.

The romantic track was handled very elegantly. The scenes involving the lead pair were presented majestically and the chemistry is cracking. The music is very rich. Some scenes will make you vibrate.

Although there are a lot of characters on the screen, each one has its meaning, which is not an easy task to manage. The roles of Sumanth and Rashmika are woven beautifully into this story. They got major roles and did a wonderful job. Sumanth’s character arc was written with perfection. Although it’s a love story, some major twists are well placed in the film and worth whistling.

Few dialogues arouse and make us reflect. They are short and register well. The second half of the film is brilliant, to say the least. The way the war angle was introduced into a love story deserves special applause. The editorial team did an exquisite job.

Negative points :

The first half of the film is slow. The director took longer to get into the actual plot. Even though the story is well placed, it takes up more screen time. The editing team could have done an even better job reducing the duration to support the film’s tempo.

The comedy in the film seems a bit odd. Although it evokes laughs, it feels like it’s not necessary to this plot. There are some logical errors. To name one, a character looks the same even after 20 years without much change.

The theme of the film may not appeal to the masses. The songs in some places come as speed breakers disrupting the flow of the film. The film is sometimes a little slow, which makes it long.

Technical aspects:

The production values are top notch. The directors spent very well on the film, which is quite evident on screen. Even for smaller roles, well-known artists were recruited, which added a lot of value to the film. The production house should be appreciated for that. The visuals are eye-catching. Cinematographer PS Vinod and Shreyas were phenomenal in portraying the many locations featured in the film. Majestic Kashmir is well captured.

Vishal Chandrasekhar’s music is very pleasant and sets the tone for this beautiful love story. The background score is just perfect. The editorial team did a decent job. The length of the film is its main stumbling block. The first half could have been crisp.

Coming to director Hanu Raghavapudi, he clearly overcame his second half syndrome. As promised in the specials, he delivered big time with the last part. The way he told this love story with enchanting visuals and prodigious characterizations is prodigious. Although the first half isn’t great, he makes up for it with his storytelling within an hour. He delivered one of the best love stories in a long time.

Overall Sita Ramam is a beautiful love story. The film has a good first half and a great second half. The scintillating performances of all the main actors, the enjoyable narrative and the poetic writing will make you feel poignant and heartwarming. As the film centers around a simple story of love and war, it may not be overwhelming for the masses. Almost all departments have done a superlative job. Director Hanu told us a beautiful and aesthetic love story that should surely be enjoyed on the big screen. You can surely watch this movie without any doubt. It’s worth all your money.
