Teyana Taylor is heading to the big screen. The multifaceted artist will play in The slapan independent thriller based on the novel of the same name, written by Richard Lange, The Hollywood Reporter reports.

In The slapTaylor will play a self-taught hustler who crosses paths with a breathless crook (played by Casey Affleck). They unite and venture to Los Angeles to raise some serious money that would have been up for grabs by a savvy con artist (played by Alan Arkin).
To their surprise, two accomplices are not the only ones to run after the money, one of which is the ex (Marisa Tomei) of the crook (Affleck) who hit rock bottom.
More develops around the scam, including the two new friends (Taylor and Affleck) potentially falling in love with each other and possibly being set up for the bigger deception.
Oscar-winning actress Kathy Bates is part of the cast, as well as Isabelle May and Yul Vazquez.
David M. Rosenthalwho directs The slapco-wrote the screenplay in part with Keith Kjarvel. The latter collaborates with Sam RockwellMark Berger and Andrea Bucko to produce the film, which will begin filming later this fall.
“When I worked with David and Keith on One shotit was a singular experience, due to David’s sharp artistic vision as a filmmaker and Keith’s leadership as a producer,” says Rockwell.
“Bringing together this powerful company of actors feels like an old school, ’70s movie-making way, and Mark and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be part of this team.”
Taylor is set to star as Inez in one thousand and onedirected by AV Rockwell, which is expected to receive a premiere date in the coming months.
Additionally, she will star in white men can’t jumpa remake of the 1992 basketball comedy starring Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson.
In 2021, Taylor starred as Bopoto in the Oscar-nominated film Coming 2 America.
In other news, Taylor, the head of production company The Aunties, wrapped her up Last Rose Petal 2… Farewell Tour earlier this month.
The tour supported his three-album discography, the latest being The Scrapbook. Released in June 2020, the LP follows that of 2018 KTSE It included the songs “Morning” with Kehlani and “How You Want It?” with King Combs, each certified gold with over 500,000 equivalent units sold.
The Scrapbook was listed among R&B’s Top 30 R&B Albums of 2020.
